The reviews on this site are all fairly old. We visited Turtle Beach in Feb 2011 and found that it was very basic and really needed to be refurbished. The location was great, straight onto the beach but unfortunately the sea was too rough to swim in. The food was OK, not great but not poor. The average age of the clientele in the first week we were there was late 70’s (I kid you not), it reduced to mid 60’s in the second week. The hotel is a major supplier to SAGA, who have there own check in desk on changeover day. This was a bit of surprise to us on arrival but made for a friendly if not slightly surreal residential home in the sun feel to the place. On the whole this is OK if you want a very cheap holiday in the sun and you don’t have high expectation. The rooms are really very tired and there is little in the way of anything to do in the evenings. There isn’t anything within walking distance of the resort so you are a little tied to it but hopefully the weather will be good and you can relax on the sunbeds.![]()

Best holiday we have ever had !! it was an all inclusive 2 wks stay,in arex resort hotel, but to be fair the food was more than adequate , the room was well decorated, clean and air conditioning worked atreat ! . we found all the staff really friendly, polite and in the main professional and good humoured. frederica’s omelettes were to die for ! Dion, Kurt, in the surf shop are top blokes nothin to much trouble. The guys on the beach- especially Daryl, henry, engine Bob, Rueben Big show and scoutie were fantastic guys who we shared more than adrink or two with and made us feel totally relaxed and comfortable. The entertainment was as times a bit iffy but candice more than made up for it . The highlight was seeing five turtles lay their eggs including the one who came up during the daytime - absolutely unforgettable . Our holiday was in may 09 and we loved it so much we are going back with people we met over there again in may 2010.![]()

We visited the Turtle Baech Resort from 17 - 24 May 2008. Before going, I had read some of the feedback on the web and was a wee bit worried. BUT......our experience was absolutley wonderful. The rooms were very clean, the bathrooms tired, but everything worked well. The food was splendid and the views from the rooms, to die for. The beach was clean, sea bathing safe and most enjoyable and we were fortunate enough to see turtles coming up to lay their eggs at night. The hotel staff, and indeed everyone we met on Tobago (both visitors and residents) were great people, so polite and friendly with interesting stories. We would go back to the island and the hotel again and again, if we could. Every part of the week and the environment made it a very special holiday to remember with great pleasure.![]()

visted turtle beach 8.03.08 to the 22nd 03.We had a ball.Ok the hotel ineeds a coat of paint but the beach is great.Saw 4 turtle laying there eggs on the beach. The staff have alot to put up with as Rex resort will not spend the money on the hotel so they get the back lash from those guest who want 5star at three star prices.I loved it,the food was good and hot at what ever time you went into the restuarant, which i have never had at any other alinclusive hotel I`ve stayed at in the world. You must have a pair of shoes made by henry who is on the main beech if you do tell miss tian send her love and best wishes. There is a non smoking policy in operation, but you can smoke by the beach wall on the far side of the pool. These people also run the turtle watch who make surer the turtle are safe on the beach when they lay their eggs and protect them form the hunters who still eat and use the shell, most add that these people are not from tobago.Frankie, smithy an daryal are just a few who care about their island.Go and enjoy but if not happy remember it is not the staff fault but rex resorts for not spending the money on the hotel.I will be going back soon as Iam missing the place and people already.Sunday school outing is a must .Not the sunday school we know this is in Bucco.the best bar for music is just up the hill that if the disco to much.Could go on for ever so I `ll finsh now .![]()

We stayed at this hotel during the first two weeks in May 07. It is comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is marvellous and we were fortunate to see two leather back turtles laying their eggs right on the beach. The food is good with a good variety using mainly local produce. The decor is a bit tired and we were told it was to be redecorated this summer. The staff are extremely honest. When I lost my engagement ring on the day of my departure, I reported it to the reception and to the Housekeeper, thinking it was probably gone for good. A few days after my return home I had a email from the Hotel saying that a guest had handed in my ring. Fortunately we have relatives living on the island who were coming to England the next week and they were able to collect it. I wonder how many hotels in UK have such honest staff?![]()
