Highlights of Tanzania 4x4 Safari

Day 1

On arrival into Kilimanjaro, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your overnight stay in Arusha, approximately one hour's drive away (50km). Check in and relax for the remainder of the day before your safari adventure begins. No meals are included this evening.

Day 2

After breakfast and a safari briefing, your adventure begins as you depart by private 4x4 safari vehicle towards the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey takes around four hours, allowing you to enjoy the changing landscapes and your first glimpse of rural Tanzania.

Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch before enjoying a relaxed afternoon at leisure. Optional lodge activities are available at an additional cost, or simply take in the breathtaking views across the Ngorongoro Crater before dinner.

Day 3

A very early start today as you make your way to the crater rim before descending into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to over 30,000 animals, making it one of the most remarkable wildlife destinations in Africa. With such a high concentration of wildlife, there is an excellent chance of spotting the Big Five, alongside zebras, wildebeest, hippos and countless bird species.

To make the most of your day, you will take a picnic lunch with you to enjoy at one of the scenic picnic sites on the crater floor.

Later this afternoon, you will ascend back to the crater rim and return to your lodge to relax before dinner, reflecting on an unforgettable day of wildlife viewing.

Day 4

After breakfast and check out, you will continue your safari towards the iconic Serengeti National Park. Along the way, you will stop at the fascinating Olduvai Gorge, one of the world's most important archaeological sites, where you can visit the small museum and learn about the discoveries made by the Leakey family.

Continue your journey to the Serengeti, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. After a chance to relax, head out into the park for your first afternoon game drive across the endless plains before returning to the lodge at sunset for dinner.

Day 5

You will have a choice of activities today, both involving an early start to make the most of the best wildlife viewing.

You can enjoy a morning game drive with your guide as you continue exploring the incredible Serengeti, or, for a truly unforgettable experience, you may choose an optional hot air balloon safari (additional cost – ask for details). Floating silently above the plains at sunrise before enjoying a bush breakfast is one of Africa's most spectacular safari experiences.

Following your morning activity, return to the lodge for lunch before heading back out for an afternoon game drive. The Serengeti is renowned for its incredible wildlife, giving you the opportunity to search for lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, cheetahs and, with a little luck, the elusive leopard.

Day 6

Today offers complete flexibility to enjoy the Serengeti at your own pace. You may choose from early morning, morning or afternoon game drives, or head out on a full-day safari with a picnic lunch to explore more remote areas of the park.

Whichever option you choose, there will be plenty of opportunities to experience the exceptional wildlife and spectacular scenery that make the Serengeti one of the world's greatest safari destinations.

Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and your final night on safari.

Day 7

Enjoy breakfast before setting off on a final game drive en-route to Seronera Airstrip, offering one last opportunity to spot some of the Serengeti's incredible wildlife.

Board your scheduled flight back to Arusha where you will be met and transferred into the city for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, continue to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight home.
