With water sports and shopping in Holetown nearby, there’ll be lots to keep you occupied when you fancy a break from sunbathing. For those who simply want to relax, guests can get a complimentary transfer to the sister hotel’s luxurious spa, nestled in exotic gardens and featuring a sumptuous hydro pool.

The classy restaurant serves a delightful mix of international cuisine, all cooked with a Caribbean flair, whilst Harold’s Bar is a chilled, laid back bar perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or light al fresco lunch.

Barbados Room Rate Levy
Please note that a mandatory government ‘Room Rate Levy’ must be applied nightly to all hotel guests staying on the island. The tax will either be applied to your hotel room account at check-in or may be included in your overall holiday cost, depending on the hotel (this will be confirmed to you when you book your holiday with us). The amount varies from BBD$8.75 (approx. US$4.50) to BBD$35.00 (approx.  US$17.50) per bedroom per night according to the classification of the property in question. Please note that this levy is not optional and is subject to change.

Nestled on the powdery white sands of St James’ beach in western Barbados, The Sandpiper sustains an intimate and peaceful ambience, with stunning views looking over the sparkling blue Caribbean Sea.

The resort holds a prime location, just a 20 minute drive away from the Barbados Capital Bridgetown, offering a mix of upmarket boutiques, restaurants and bars with a thriving atmosphere and lots of historical spots including National Heroes Square and George Washington House. Other nearby destinations include the Limegrove Lifestyle Shopping Centre, brimming with popular shops, cafes and a cinema, and Folkestone Marine Park & Visitor Centre.

  • The hotel is approximately a 40 minute drive from Grantley Adams International Airport.

Choose from:

  • Garden Room – Bright, airy rooms with a king size bed or two twin beds, and a small furnished patio with garden views. Sleeps a maximum of two adults.
  • One Bedroom Suite – A colourful suite featuring a separate living room with sofa bed, a kitchen, and a patio or balcony. Sleeps a maximum of three adults, or two adults and two children under 12 years.
  • Two Bedroom Suite – With the same amenities as before, plus a second bedroom with king size bed or two twin beds and a second bathroom. Sleeps a maximum of five guests, for example two adults and three children.
  • Tree Top Suites * – There are three Tree Top suites altogether, all featuring a bedroom, living room, dressing area, and luxury bathroom with a large walk in shower and separate bath. Each spacious terrace features a wet bar, a plunge pool, and a scenic sundeck. The Whimbrel and Sanderling both have sea views and sleep two adults, whilst the Curlew is bigger, with a larger pool and located on the beachfront. The Curlew can also connect with two beach house suites. Please note that children under 12 cannot stay in these suites.
  • Beach House Suites * – Gorgeous suites with bright beach-house style décor, featuring a separate living room, and a large patio with a wet bar and sundeck. These suites can be interconnected by a moveable wall on the patio, and in the hallway. Sleeps a maximum of three adults, or two adults and two children.

  • The Restaurant – This sophisticated restaurant is surrounded by tropical garden, offering guests a delightful menu of international cuisines cooked with Caribbean flair, and fusing European and Asian techniques. On Sunday join in the fun BBQ with a selection of delicious meat, fish and seafood, and lovely live steel pan music.
  • Harold’s Bar – This beachside bar has a chilled, beach-hut style vibe, with a thatched roof and bamboo décor. Head here for a wonderful alfresco lunch or a pre-dinner cocktail.

Exchange Dining
Guests on Half Board can enjoy exchange dining between Coral Reef Club and The Sandpiper on a space available basis.

  • Spa - Located at the sister hotel; Coral Reef Club, this beautiful spa is set in a colonial style building, with calming waterfalls and colourful, exotic flora. Private and intimate, outside there is a lovely hydro-pool and shaded cabanas, offering the perfect place to relax after enjoying a massage, facial or scrub. There is a complimentary transfer to the spa for Sandpiper guests.
  • Complimentary non-motorised water sports, including Hobie Cat sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkelling
  • Access to the dive school at sister property Coral Reef Club

Summer Family programme
For stays between 15 May - 24 August 2026, children between 2 and 11 years receive 3 x 30-minute sailing trips with the resort watersports team and 3 x 30-minute swimming lessons each week.
 

Family information

There is no kids club at the resort but there are some great activities for families and the resort is set on the beautiful, calm west coast with excellent snorkelling and a range of watersports for all ages. 
This is a small resort, and the hotel team provide a good balance for those with and without kids to maximise their relaxation time.

  • Children under 12 years are accepted at this hotel year round, however children under 5 years of age are not permitted in the restaurant or lounge after 7pm.
  • Childrens room service dinner is available 5.30pm to 9.30pm (ordered by noon).
    For younger babies the chef will prepare blended food with fresh ingredients on request.
  • The pool in unsupervised so parents should remain with their younger children, and children under 12 years are not permitted in the lap pool from 9am to 1pm

Babysitting is available at a charge of US$12.50 per hour with a minumum of three hours

A limited amount of baby equipment is available on request at no additional charge including cots, high chairs, child bed guards, play pens, hot plates, bottle sterlising tablets, children's books, baby monitors, cot mosquito nets and kettles.

Older children can enjoy complimentary non-motorised watersports as listed, plus there is the daily  tennis clinic with the resideint Tennis Pro.

Those interested in turtles and conservation can participate in the highly respected Barbados Sea Turtle Project, right next door to the hotel.

 




 

The hotel will be closed from 3 August 2026 to 16th October 2026, 14th August to 5th October 2027 and similar dates each year.

Barbados Room Rate Levy

The dress code is elegantly casual. At breakfast and lunch, ladies should wear cover-ups in the restaurant and gentlemen wear short sleeves and no hats.  After 7.00 p.m. gentlemen are required to wear long trousers in the restaurant and cocktail bar lounge. On New Year’s Eve the dress code is smart.

A minimum stay of 7 nights applies 01-28 February and 21-28 November. and 10 nights 20 December - 08 January, unless departing the hotel on or before 27th December, in which case there is no minimum stay requirement.
