Weddings at Papillon Lagoon Reef

Weddings from £760 All Inclusive 7 nights from £999 per person Including Flights

Overview

Papillon Lagoon Reef is tucked into the stunning Diani Beach, which is widely considered to be the most beautiful beach in Kenya. The hotel is built in a traditional, Swahili style, and is adorned by lush, exotic gardens; a dreamy setting for a spectacularly romantic, serene and breath-taking wedding.

Pronounce your vows to one another as your toes sink into the soft sand, calming ocean waves roll into shore and the feeling of love accompanies a gentle sea breeze. After a wonderful ceremony, you’ll celebrate with wedding cake and a bottle of sparkling wine, followed by an evening under the stars at the Baobab Terrace to enjoy your first divine meal together as a married couple.

The beach-side location is fantastic here, and we certainly recommend making the most of it with a wide selection of day time and evening activities organised by the hotel, or by booking a diving trip with the PADI team to explore the nearby coral reefs. The pool features its own swim-up bar, and is a fabulous spot to unwind and enjoy the tranquil ambience; there is also a separate pool for children. There’s a number of lovely restaurants and bars, and the hotel’s accommodation is well-appointed, spacious and offers beautiful views.

As well as the beach and the pool, this resort is ideally located for combining a beach holiday with a safari holiday, or making the most of the wide range of day trips and activities that are on offer in-resort.

Letter Of No Trace - This is a document required in some destinations, which states that there is no impediment to the proposed marriage.  These certificates vary in the length of time they are valid so it is important to check which apply to your circumstances.  The certificate is prepared by the Superintendent Registrar at the Register Office in the area you live. This replaces the old advice for the Certificate of No Impediment. Before you travel:

Guests marrying at hotels in Kenya will need to send original documents via DHL to the resort at least 12 weeks before the date of travel.  If marrying on safari, please remember that you will need to spend at least 2 working days in Nairobi to complete wedding formalities before travelling to your chosen safari

Translation of documents

All legal documents must be in English or legally translated into English. All translated documents must be from a legal translator with letterhead, stamp and seal from the translator's office or notarised by a Notary Public.  Occasionally the documentation will have to be sent to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for their approval before being sent back to the notary to sign.

The Wedding Ceremony

In most destinations, your wedding ceremony will be conducted Monday to Friday (excluding local holidays).  In some destinations, local festivals and holidays will determine available wedding dates.  Generally, your wedding will take place in the grounds of the hotel unless otherwise specified.  Many hotels offer wedding gazebos for extra privacy.  Some hotels may offer more than one wedding per day with the first wedding taking place at around 10am with the last wedding at 4pm.  The majority of our weddings are conducted by a marriage officer whose title varies depending on the resort.  Where it is possible to be married by a Minister, the ceremony will be non-denominational unless otherwise stated and will be a Civil wedding.

Tropical Sky Weddings and the information given above only apply to couples that were born in the UK or Ireland and hold a valid UK/Irish passport (with at least 6 months validity on return home).  If couples do not fulfil these requirements they must advise us.  Couples should be referred to the embassy of the country of origin and the country where they wish to marry as they may require extra documentation to satisfy their own embassy requirements – Tropical Sky cannot advise on this and couples must investigate this on their own. As Tropical Sky weddings have no jurisdiction over hotels/resorts/venues/legal requirements and their charges, we cannot be responsible for any increases or changes to these wedding arrangements.  We will, however, endeavour to advise you of changes as soon as we are made aware of them.
