Believed to be over 2,500 years old, the Pagoda is surrounded by wonderfully decorated shrines and statues. Later in the day you’ll travel across the Sittang River to Kyaikhtiyo – from here you’ll hike (10km) to the 1200m high pagoda on the famous Golden Rock for an overnight stay.

(Breakfast included)

Day 3

Bago/Mandalay

On the third day you’ll hike down 2km where you’ll get the chance to see a huge reclining Buddha and learn about the history on the Mon people and the region. Later on you’ll go by truck onto the city of Bago. Later you’ll explore the market and take a stroll to the Kyaikpun Pagoda.

Kalaw

Early in the morning of day nine you’ll travel overland to Kalaw, a former British hill station. The cooler climate offers ideal conditions for hikes and exploration - you’ll visit a hill tribe and take in the incredible scenery that surrounds you. Climbe up the volcanic rock to see the shrines for spirits of mythology and Buddha dedicated temples. Make sure to stop off at the food stalls and herbal remedy shops along the way!
